§ 9-14. City court clerk; deputies.

  • (a)

    The city judge shall designate a city court clerk, who shall be co-custodian of the city court records, including all books, papers and records that are filed with or deposited in the city court. The city court clerk shall maintain and safeguard all city court records. The city court clerk shall discharge the duties of the office, in compliance with all applicable laws, court rules and instructions of the city judge.

    (b)

    The city court clerk shall, at the discretion of the city judge, destroy documents, records, instruments, books, papers, depositions, exhibits and transcripts, in his or her custody pursuant to this section. The destruction of these documents and materials shall be in compliance with any and all applicable rules promulgated by the Supreme Court of Arizona.

    (c)

    The city court clerk may appoint such deputy clerks as may be reasonably necessary to assist in the performance of duties under this section. All such appointments shall be subject to the approval of the city judge.
